Location Information
Starting from the world view, we are off the coast of mainland Belize in Central America:

Belize is easy to get to - in only a couple of hours you can fly from the gateway cities of Houston, Dallas or Miami. Major airlines connect to these gateways from all over the United States, Canada and Europe.
Local geography: Peninsla to Island
Ambergris Caye is an island. The word "Caye" is pronounced key. Many years ago, the island was a peninsula, but opening the waterway at the north created the island. Some folks refer to it as Ambergis Cay.
It's only about one-half mile by water to our barrier reef from the resort!
Getting to Mata Rocks Resort
We're on Ambergris Caye, Belize
Fly in! It's a short 15 minute flight to San Pedro from Belize International Airport. Ambergris Caye is a major island located just off the coast of Belize, between the mainland and the Barrier Reef. Mata Rocks Resort is located one mile south of the town of San Pedro, the largest community on Ambergris Caye.

Mata Rocks Resort is about 1 mile south of the town of San Pedro, on Coconut Drive, which makes it close enough for restaurants and shops, but far enough away to be quiet.

"The service we got here could not have been better. The restaurants around here are all really good. We did a lot of relaxing and reading too. The Mata Colada's were my favorite- and it was so nice getting up in the morning, walking just a few feet away for morning coffee and orange juice at the Bar." Erica Mettert |

Meet Terry and Liz
"We find it particularly rewarding that all our guests fall in love with the hotel and the location, and when they leave they tell us it is one of the best vacations they have ever had."
"The staff often becomes friends with repeat guests and look forward to their return each year.
"All our friends and family thought we were moving to the tropics and spending our days sitting on the beach under a palm tree with a tropical drink in our hands. We have been busy upgrading the hotel and making changes in an effort to enhance what we started with. Now that most of our friends have visited us, they realize this is far from the truth. We are enjoying what we are doing and love where we are living."
Terry and Liz have owned Mata Rocks Resort since 1995. When asked to tell the things they love about the small hotel, Liz included, "Meeting people from all over the world with different backgrounds and interest." Many guests arrive from the United States, but also from Canada and Europe, and they particularly enjoy our snorkeling, SCUBA diving and fishing."
